Did you find any good solution to your problem? most i've read about or seen usually prompt you to download a fix form some other virus program before it shuts down.

After the restart, AVG Remover will finish the uninstallation. No BSOD, no visual clues at all. I think that updating the bios and software was the big thing. Never seen it cause shut downs or reboots, whether it's been enabled or disabled. Just before this test I did a full norton internet security scan and computer shut down on me, reaching 55C cpu temp.
soclydezaOct 20, 2011, 6:21 AM ok i went and checked the temps using RealTemp, is says everything is OK and that I'm pretty far from the maxs.as for the registry files I'm experiecing the same isse , I think that it is because of an adware. I'd suspect a faulty capacitor either on motherboard or in power supply.Inspect caps on motherboard for signs of swelling or leakage.

Thank you. And there are other ways for a computer to restart. You know those power supplies that don't quit make a good connection at the motherboard plug. Of course the ASUS page for my board is down so I can't look up if the feature even exists, which I assume it does.
